|Thomas R. Zengage, Chairman & CEO
Thomas R. Zengage graduated from Columbia College at Columbia
University in the City of New York, where he studied Chinese.
After attending an MA program in Japanese studies at the University
of Washington in Seattle, he earned his MBA there as well.
Fluent in Japanese, Zengage has had an extensive career in
public relations (PR), investor relations (IR), and strategy
consulting in Japan, working on behalf of leading corporations
and other organizations. He was previously CEO and principal
shareholder of IBI, Inc., Japan's pioneering PR, IR, and strategy
consultancy firm. He sold IBI the to LSE-traded WPP Group,
and became CEO of WPP's Ogilvy Public Relations (Japan). Zengage
later served as CEO of the Japan subsidiary of Edelman Public
Relations, the world's leading independent PR agency. He established
consultancy Pacific Communicators, Inc. to specialize in value-added
strategic communications and stakeholder management. Zengage
founded Investor Impact, Inc. to offer the latest IR strategic
consultancy services that strengthen relationships between
Japanese issuers and global stakeholders, thereby boosting
return on IR. Writing in Japanese, he is the author of the
book "Sore Demo Yen No Seiki" (Tokyo: Kodansha), which contains
an analysis of the long-term factors driving Japan's economy.
Rika Sumi, President, Investor Impact, Inc.
After graduating from Japan's Senshu University, Rika Sumi
began her career in the finance division of a well-known Japanese
entertainment company. Sumi next joined a Tokyo investor relations
consulting firm and subsequently entered a U.S. financial
consulting firm. Sumi is an expert in consulting on IR strategy
development, beneficial ownership surveys, corporate awareness
and reputation surveys, investor announcements and meetings,
investor visit and analyst coverage promotion, proxy voting,
IR program Key Performance Indicator tracking, and other support.
As client-side IR experience, Sumi served as an Investor Relations
Officer (IRO) in charge of a mobile telecommunications systems
company's 2001 Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Tokyo
Stock Exchange's Mothers Section. In November 2004, Sumi founded
IR consulting firm Theoria Co., Ltd., and in December 2012,
she became a founding Representative Director and Vice President
of Investor Impact, Inc. While working as a professional IR
consultant, Sumi earned her M.A. in commerce from Senshu University.
Currently matriculated in that university's Ph.D. program,
her research topics involve corporate governance, corporate IR strategy, and measurement of IR program effectiveness.
Her professional affiliations include memberships in the Japan Investor Relations Association, the Japan Academic Society
of Investor Relations, and the Association of Behavioral Economics and Finance.
